25 BIRDS FLY

Like counting clouds or counting shells, 25 Birds Fly, Fly Higher Birds is a form of playfully passing time. This series began as a collection of 25 images of different birds tagged with their Latin name and their common English or French name. I dyed the paper images in a peach tea and then mounted them on wood panels that were 2″ deep. Around the outside of the wood panel I stamped in red ink a singular fact about the bird and short playful text on each of the 25 pieces. One part truth – the rest play. Goldcrest – this bird likes to nest on the underside of a spruce tree branch. I would like to nest someday, somewhere.
