SCRABBLE DABBLE
I’m always searching for different fonts to use in my text-based work. In this series, I used vintage lettered tiles from the 1930’s Classic Family board game “Scrabble” as the font to create whimsical, unexpected statements. During the time of the Great Depression an out of work Architect named Alfred Mosher Butts invented the game of “Scrabble” that would lift the spirits of millions. This game has lasted 3 generations and has the characteristic of being both nostalgic and recognizable at the same time. To take it a step further, I create statements that are twisted versions of lyrics that have been taken out of their context and edited for enjoyment.
