TRANSLUCENT
This series came to fruition while testing translucent pink for a piece ‘TWENTY TWENTY’. I needed a visual representation of a pink perfume, where the light can pass through. I wanted to create a line in the resin but I have never taped off the sides or surface of a piece so I created different test strips of tape on the same size canvas. Through these tests, I learned how different colors move at different speeds and cure differently. The longer I waited, the less my taped-off line moved. I became fascinated with the art of translucency. I decided to turn this study into a series, titling the pieces how they made me feel–’pink sand’ ‘red hill’ ‘blue ocean’. I like how the simple imagery reminded me of the “Rorschach Inkblot Test’ in that it elicited a feeling. I’ve decided to pursue this series and see where it takes me–into the sunrise and sunsets of color and feelings and the emotions they evoke.
